From "Let It Be" to "Get Back"

Post by oxblood »

This might be old news to some of us, but...

Ever since it was made, various members of The Beatles have complained that when Michael Lindsay-Hogg made the "Let It Be" film, his final 81-minute edit concentrated far too heavily on those moments when things weren't going well, resulting in a movie that gave the impression of a band at war with itself. In the Apple archives there are a further 56 hours of footage, much of which (as you'd expect, TBH) shows them working with each other like professionals and enjoying each other's company like the old friends they were. Surprise, surprise!

Now, Peter Jackson has been through the whole bloody lot to produce his own documentary - "The Beatles: Get Back" It's due for release in August 2021, and if this 5-minute montage of clips is anything to go by, it should be a very worthwhile watch! In the end, I guess it just goes to show you can select and edit footage to show whatever version of history you want...
